Color
Color IS important. Color evokes emotion and should be chosen meaningfully. The colors can grab you and bring life to your shape and product. Keep in mind that the logo should also look good in black and white for use on no-color printers.

Negative Space (white space)
Don't forget to consider your negative space. Printing your image in black and white or grey scale can be a strategy to helping your eyes focus on the white space. There are many great logo places that utilize the white space in a creative way.

Proportion & Symmetry
Use consistent curves, arcs, and lines.

Motion
Decide whether you want a sense of activity in the loo. Is a sense of motion something you want to communicate to your observer? Think of sport logos. How many of the mascots are in motion in the logos and how many appear stationary?

Use fancy font
Make your font choices wisely. Some great custom lettering can really make the difference between a boring logo and an eye-catching one. There are many fonts in the front menu you probably haven't explored, as well as free fonts available for free download online.

Keep it simple!
Simple but powerful logos are memorable and stand the test of time. A "simple" logo can include just simple typography logos, simple graphics (including illustrations or shapes), or communicate basic ideas. Complete your own search for simple logos and DRAW your favorite son your paper in the white space.

Know what it means
Be able to tell a story of the obvious and hidden meanings of your chosen logo. Tell a story of the colors, the symmetry, the negative space, and any hidden meanings. Even if you come up with a justification for the meaning AFTER creating it, make sure you have a good story!

Don't be cliche
Some logos are overdone. They lose their originality when many of them are used and do not stand out. Be inspired and think outside the box!
